Let Me Be The First To Say It…

THE “SIMPLE” PARTS OF PARENTING ARE ANYTHING BUT

We’re taught to believe that we’ll “just know” how to care for our kids each day. And honestly? I kind of hate that! There is no baby manual. No toddler textbook. So expecting ourselves to be instant experts on sleep, mealtimes, play, development, and everything else just isn’t fair.

Most of these topics aren’t easy to learn about, either. The information is spread way out. Each topic is taught by a different “expert”. Each expert contradicts at least one other. And sometimes those with the most advice aren’t experts at all! (I’m looking at you, MIL!)

Cue the information overload and intense hyper-scheduling and tracking—or the complete, I-have-no-idea-what-to-do overwhelm.

Ummm…that parenting “intuition” can kick in any day now!

LET’S GET YOU YOUR CONFIDENCE BACK

With Simple Parenting Tools & Age-Appropriate Routines All In One Place, Daily Routine Guides Set You And Your Child Up To Thrive.

IF YOU’RE WORRIED, DON’T BE

It’s About Realistic Routines, Not Strict Schedules!

Science has shown that in a child’s first few years of life, routines—not schedules—are incredibly important. Both provide consistency, but schedules tend to be hyper-controlled, don’t let you respond to your child’s changing needs, and can create stress when things don’t go to plan!

Rooted In Routine And Connection

MEET JESS: MOM, OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST & YOUR PARENTING GUIDE

There’s so much conflicting and complicated information out there about child development. Are sleep schedules good or bad? Should I do baby-led weaning or purees? How the heck am I supposed to entertain my baby all day long? It can be SO overwhelming!

With a degree in pediatric Occupational Therapy and many years’ experience working with babies, children, and their families, I want to help simplify it all and let you in on a little secret:

The key to a happy, healthy child is how they spend their time. And that is something YOU have control over.

Your child doesn’t need a perfect parent or a strict routine. Especially if that’s stressing everyone out! So permission to let yourself off the hook! For most kids, the general structure of their day paired with the quality of the relationship they have with you is what matters most.

These are the things that allow them to grow into healthy, happy adults! They’re the things that will bring you the most parenting satisfaction. And, they’re exactly what I teach in my Daily Routine Guides!

Better Routines For Them. Fewer Decisions For You!

Raise your hand if you’ve got information overload, decision fatigue, or you’re carrying a heavy mental load. And raise both hands if you’ve got all three!

Here’s the thing: It’s not you.

Parenting is hard. Really, really hard. As soon as you have a baby, it’s like your brain kicks into another gear. There’s so much to do and feel and know. And you’re so tired! It’s all-consuming.

Pediatricians give you suggestions, but they can’t answer the big, burning questions like “Am I doing this parenting thing right?!”

Thankfully, my Daily Routine Guides can!

“When You’re In The Depths of Parenting, It’s Information Overload!”

“As a new mom, I was trying to get as much info as possible. Before he was born I did a lot of reading but when you’re in the depths of it, it’s information overload. You’re up at weird times of night just scrolling, which isn’t helpful. Some things I read were giving me different opinions from different places. I like how Jess is really authentic, and that she’s backed by her OT background so it’s coming from science and also experience of raising her own kid!”

-Bethany, First-Time Mom

 Frequently Asked Questions

  • Children don’t come into the world following a set schedule. So my guides aren’t meant to help you put your child on a rigid one! Rather, the goal is to establish a sense of flow in your child’s day. This way, you both have predictability and they can thrive!

  • In the first year of life, subtract the number of weeks they were born early from their current age. That’s the “age” they’re at for the guides. (So if they’re 3 months old today but they were 4 weeks early, think of them as 2 months old and grab the 0-3 month guide!) Then, after their first birthday, just go by their true age.

  • It depends! I’d make a case-by-case decision based on your child’s individual needs. Contact me directly for more information and together we’ll figure out if it’s a fit.

If we talk and decide it is a fit, that’s great! I’m sure the guide will be useful to you. But of course, I’d always recommend listening to your healthcare provider’s advice over anyone else’s.

  • If you have to choose, buy the next one. Also, remember that in the first year of life, your baby’s sleep and feeding needs change often and quickly. So it’s okay to adapt my routine suggestions to what you know they need!

  • The guides aren’t super heavy, so you could read yours all at once if you needed to. But I created them so you could easily pick and choose the sections you need most. So you can get quick info and answers even when you’re in the thick of it.

  • Sorry, due to the digital nature of this product and the instant download feature, we can’t give refunds once guides have been purchased. If you have questions I can answer to help you make sure it’s a fit before you buy, email me at jessica@rootedinroutine.com.

  • Yes! If you have multiple babies, consistent routines are probably even more important for you. I don’t specifically talk about how to apply the information in the guides to multiples, but you can apply it to more than one child at a time.

  • Definitely yes! My guides all mention daycare specifically, especially when it comes to feeding and starting solids. And, the general parenting philosophy behind understanding development and using what you know to create routines is helpful no matter how your days play out!

  • Yes! Having a guide is even better in this case! I recommend printing pages out and giving them to anyone who’s helping to care for your child so you’re all on the same page. You can also print out the blank routine page (there’s one in every guide) and use it to create a daily or weekly schedule anyone can follow!

“WHAT ARE WE SUPPOSED TO DO ALL DAY?!”

Knowing What’s Coming Lets You Both Relax

To be set up for success, you both need to know what to expect in your days. You need a predictable routine so your child knows what’s coming—and you don’t have to make a million decisions each day!

That doesn’t mean you need to chain yourself to a strict schedule. And, it doesn’t mean you can’t respond to your child’s needs. It just means creating enough structure to help you both thrive. Without starting each day, each activity, and each moment from scratch.
